Willy Russell exhibition – Teachers First Preview

10/05/2017kirkby

On  Thursday 4th May we held the Teachers First preview of the  exhibition Willy Russell – Another Place . Willy Russell and Tina Ball  guided teachers  through the exhibition with a particular focus on some of his work. Forty teachers and other staff from across Knowsley and beyond were in attendance.

This was a fascinating insight into Willy the artist – and a privilege to be in the audience. Willy told the story of the inspiration for each of the selected paintings, the techniques he used and the development of the piece of work.

We try and prepare our children for lifelong learning – Willy is testament to that. His journey into painting is an inspiration for us all – a demonstration of the potential we all may have inside us – waiting to be discovered.  And the old saying – it’s never too late to learn.

The exhibition runs until 2nd September.

Willy Russell explains to the audience about one of his paintings.

Congratulations to our 14 Kirkby schools for putting in place measures 12 hours after the lock down announcement, enabling over 650 children per day to access face to face education, support key workers and vulnerable children, AND provide home based pupils with remote learning !
