2016 Knowsley Sports and Cultural Awards

16/11/2016parentapps

School Cultural Educational Achievement of the Year
Winner – Kirkby Collaborative of Schools

The Kirkby Collaborative is made up of 12 primary schools, two secondary schools and one special school in the north of Knowsley. As the Collaborative Development Manager, Steve Dixon has been the creative force behind a strong relationship between the town’s schools and Knowsley Culture Education Hub. As a result, the schools have placed Kirkby gallery at the heart of their creative curriculum.

The Gallery’s current exhibition ‘Drawn from Life’, featuring pieces on loan from the Arts Council Collection, will be seen by more than 1,000 school children from across the borough. Steve has been pivotal in raising the profile of arts in education and has really helped put Knowsley on the cultural education map, with the Arts Council seeing this creative collaboration as a model of good practice.

As we move to full opening of schools it is time to pause and say THANKYOU to the Kirkby Collaborative education team – all our parents and carers, school staff and children – who have worked in partnership during lockdown to provide fantastic education opportunities

Well done to all our schools who took part in World Book Day with an imaginative range of ideas, activities and character costumes – and this year the additional appearance in many schools of The Masked Reader …. https://t.co/U9YSFUwaTi

As we move to full opening of our schools next week it is worth noting that last week over 1,000 children attended school each day in the 14 schools of the Kirkby Collaborative – well done everyone for your support to the Kirkby community
