The guest of honour was Alan Jewell. Alan was a pupil at Kirkby C of E Primary School and Brookfield High School, before going on to Knowsley Community College and the University of Central Lancashire.
He started his journalism career as a news reporter for the Liverpool Echo and Daily Post in 2000, becoming their Knowsley district reporter in 2001. In 2002 he started writing for the Liverpool FC match programme and LFC weekly magazine, before becoming joint-editor of Everton FC’s official publications from 2006-09.
After five years as a writer and editor for Trinity Mirror’s specialist magazines, he began working for the BBC Sport website in 2014. For the BBC, he is a news and production journalist, regularly organising and working on live text coverage of a range of sports, including football, Formula 1, cricket and tennis.
